Teachers Intensive 108

Stacy Plaske and Jeff Logan have shared a friendship for many years as well as a deep respect and devotion to the study and teaching of traditional Hatha Yoga. They are joining together to offer this unique program with over 50 years of combined yoga experience.

Both Pattabhi Jois and BKS Iyengar shared a common teacher, T. Krishnamacharya, “the father of modern yoga”.

As Yoga Journal described in an article entitled, “The Legacy of Krishnamacharya,” “You may never have heard of him but Tirumalai Krishnamacharya influenced or perhaps even invented your yoga. Whether you practice the dynamic series of Pattabhi Jois, the refined alignments of B.K.S. Iyengar, the classical postures of Indra Devi, or the customized vinyasa of Viniyoga, your practice stems from one source: a five-foot, two-inch Brahmin born more than one hundred years ago in a small South Indian village. By developing and refining different approaches, Krishnamacharya made yoga accessible to millions around the world.”

With such intense yoga backgrounds, learning from their masters, Pattabhi Jois and BKS Iyengar, studying with them in India and here in the U.S., the wealth and depth of knowledge is exceptional. Each brings their distinctive wisdom and knowledge to 108.

Saraswathi is the Goddess of  learning, knowledge and wisdom.  The Sanskrit word sara means “essence” and swa means “self”. Thus Saraswathi means “the essence of the self.”   Saraswathi is represented in Hindu mythology as the divine consort of Lord Brahma, the Creator of the universe.  Since knowledge is necessary for creation, Saraswathi symbolizes the creative power of Brahma.  Goddess Saraswathi is worshipped by all persons interested in knowledge, especially students, teachers, scholars, and scientists.
